Questions

MENUVA, question by question

Direct answers about how the product works today — and where something is not available, we say so.

What is MENUVA?

MENUVA is a cloud platform for running restaurants and cafés. It connects the till, orders, the kitchen, stock, branches and the books in one system.

It is built and operated by Coder Link in Saudi Arabia and runs in a web browser, in Arabic and English. A single sale reaches the kitchen, draws down stock and posts to the accounts without anyone keying it again.

Who is MENUVA for?

Restaurants, cafés, quick-service restaurants, cloud kitchens and multi-branch restaurant groups in Saudi Arabia.

Prices are in riyals and exclude VAT: Starter covers one branch, and Growth is priced per branch. Every account starts with a 14-day free trial and no bank card.

How does QR ordering work?

The guest scans the table's QR code with their phone camera and orders from the menu with their Saudi mobile number — no app and no account — and the order reaches the till against that table.

Staff confirm the order according to the restaurant's settings, and it goes to the kitchen. Each guest at the table has their own open check that later orders join, and can call a waiter or ask for the bill or the card machine. Payment is taken by staff — there is no online payment from the menu — and settling a check produces one invoice for it.

How does the point of sale connect to inventory?

When a dish with a recipe is sold, its ingredients come off the selling branch's stock at that moment, and the cost of sales is posted.

Stock is held per location — a branch store or a warehouse — never as one number for the business, and every movement is written to a ledger that cannot be edited. You can count a location while it trades: MENUVA posts to the figure you counted, so a sale made during the count is not deducted twice.

How are recipes and food cost handled?

You build a recipe for each dish from stock items and quantities, and the server computes the dish's cost and margin from the actual stock cost.

Cost is a weighted average per location, updated when purchase orders are received at what you actually paid. If any ingredient has no cost yet, the dish total is withheld rather than shown as a misleading zero.

How does multi-branch management work?

Every branch sits in one account with its own stock, staff and orders, and an employee is tied to their branch and cannot reach another branch's data.

The refusal happens on the server, not by hiding buttons. A central warehouse is a stock location separate from the branches and is never billed as one, and goods move by a documented transfer: request, approval, dispatch, in transit, then receipt. Management sees every branch and compares them.

How do shifts and business days work?

The till takes no sale without an open shift, and a shift opens with a declared cash float and closes with a count of expected against counted.

Any cash difference needs a reason, which the server enforces, and a manager approves or rejects it. The business day has a cutoff you set, so after-midnight sales land on the right day. The day is closed by the owner or a branch manager — not a cashier — never while a shift is open, and never automatically.

How does accounting connect to sales?

Every paid sale posts its own double-entry journal automatically: the revenue and the VAT, and the cost of sales from the recipe.

So do purchase receipts, transfers, count differences, waste and refunds. Posted entries are never edited, only reversed, and they build the general ledger, trial balance, income statement, balance sheet, cash flow and VAT summary, with fiscal periods, closing, and supplier bills and payments. Every paid order gets a simplified tax invoice with a QR code. There are no sales on credit, so there are no customer receivables.

What does MENUVA need to operate?

A device with a modern web browser — a computer or a tablet — and an internet connection. MENUVA is cloud-based and does not work offline.

There is no server in the restaurant, and it can be installed on the device as a web app. Receipts and kitchen tickets print from the browser, and printers and till hardware are bought separately. Payments are recorded as cash, card or transfer; MENUVA does not connect to card terminals. A guest ordering by QR needs a Saudi mobile number.

Practical questions

Is the interface in Arabic?

Yes — a complete Arabic interface laid out right-to-left, not a quick translation. English is available too, and staff switch between them whenever they like.

Does it include inventory?

Yes: a balance per warehouse, stock added with a reason and reference, transfers between stores, counts while you trade, a flag on items that have reached their reorder level, and a movement ledger that cannot be edited.

Is there a kitchen display?

Yes. One board of tickets ordered by waiting time, with preparation states, showing till orders and QR orders together. The screen does not route tickets to separate stations.

Can staff sign in with a PIN?

Yes — a 4 to 6 digit PIN at the till. The PIN is never shown again once set, and a manager can change or disable it for any member of staff.

How does the free trial work?

14 days free, with no bank card. You register your restaurant, activate the account from a link sent by email, set up your menu and start trading. At the end you choose a plan and continue, or stop.

Can I bring my existing menu and items?

We help move menus, items and stock when you subscribe. Tell us the size of your current data and we will estimate the work.

What happens after the trial?

The trial ends on day 14; you choose a plan and continue, or stop. Your restaurant's data is not deleted when the trial ends.

Is hardware included?

No. MENUVA runs in the browser and you can start on a device you already own — a computer or a tablet — with an internet connection. Printers and till hardware are bought separately, and we will help you choose.

Does it support ZATCA requirements?

Today MENUVA calculates VAT on the server, issues a simplified tax invoice carrying a QR code for every paid order, and issues a credit note on a refund. That is part of the core product, not an add-on. Integration with FATOORA (Phase 2) is not offered as a live service today. Ask us about your own position before you rely on it.
